Mike Jordan, Senior Partner
Mike Jordan, Senior Partner, brings a wide range of health care experience to Jordan Health Services including over 30 years experience in operational and financial management. From 1975 to 1986, Mike served as Vice President of Northeast Texas Health Service (NETHS) a not-for-profit home care organization. In 1986, NETHS became Jordan Health Services. At the same time, Mike assumed the role of President.
Under Mike’s leadership, Jordan Health Services has grown from fewer than 150 employees covering five counties in East Texas to currently employing over 13,000 employees providing a wide-range of home care services to the entire State of Texas and a location in Arkansas. As the Senior Partner, Mike is responsible for the leadership of the organization and oversight of the Executive Management Team.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Texas A & M Commerce. During his career he has served the local community as a Board Member of the First United Methodist Church, Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, Mount Vernon Housing Authority, Franklin National Bank, Equity Bank and Titus Regional Medical Center Foundation. In addition Mike served as the Region IV President and state association Board Member for the Texas Health Care Association.
Mike’s accomplished career has permitted him to settle with his family in the East Texas area allowing him to spend quality time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Roy M Serpa, Chief Executive Officer
Roy Serpa is a 24-year veteran of the healthcare industry and is currently responsible for leading Jordan Health Services as its CEO/Partner. Roy joined Jordan Health Services in 2005 and during his tenure Jordan has grown from $63 million to $132 million in annual revenue with the growth being attributed to both strategic acquisitions and internal growth. Under Roy’s leadership, the executive management team has integrated six acquisitions in four years with the largest being Chartwell Home Care in 2007 which doubled the Community Care Operations and expanded Jordan Health Services into South Texas. This steady pattern of growth landed Jordan Health Services on the Inc. Magazines 2008 list of fastest growing companies in America.
Prior to joining Jordan, Roy served as President of Chartwell Diversified Services, Inc. (CDSI) from 2001 to 2004. From 1995 – 2000 Roy served as vice president at Texas-based IMS/Concepts of Care. He also held sales and sales management positions with Medisys, Inc., HMSS, Inc. and Abbott Labs.
Roy earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University. He has completed educational programs in acquisitions/mergers and senior financial management hosted by the American Management Association, as well as the Executive Education Program “Finance for Senior Executives” at Harvard Business School.
Lance Cornell, CPA, Chief Financial Officer
Lance Cornell joined Jordan Health Services in 2000 bringing more than 15 years of senior level financial experience in Home Care to his position as Chief Financial Officer.
At Jordan, Lance’s experience in corporate finance and Home Care operations has been critical to the company’s growth and success. Under Lance’s leadership, the Executive Management Team was established in 2004 to develop and execute company goals and to provide excellent support to the field operations. Since 2000, Lance has cultivated, planned, executed and integrated nine acquisitions with the largest being Chartwell Community Services in 2007 which doubled the size of the Community Care operations and expanded Jordan Health Services throughout Texas. During Lance’s tenure company revenues have grown from $28 million to $132 million through acquisitions and internal growth.
Prior to joining Jordan, Lance was the president and owner of Cornell Financial Solutions from 1996 to 2000. From 1998 to 2000 Lance served as Chief Financial Offer of Millennium Health Care of America, Inc.
Lance earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University. He is also a CPA licensed in the state of Texas and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Susan Stell, RN, CHC, Chief Operations Officer
Susan Stell has 27 years of acquisition, operations, clinical, and compliance experience in the health care industry and serves as Chief Operations Officer for Jordan Health Services. She is responsible for day-to-day operations of Jordan’s Medicare, Community Care, and Pediatric business lines which have combined annual revenue of $132 million. Prior to joining Jordan in 2005, Susan was Vice President of Chartwell Community Services where she was responsible for operations in excess of $55 million in revenue. Initially, she served as Jordan’s Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President of Medicare Services and was promoted Chief Operations Officer in 2009.
In 2008 and 2009, Jordan earned the industry’s “Home Care Elite” recognition, a direct result of the team’s diligence to improve financial performance and patient outcomes. Under Susan’s leadership, Jordan’s Medicare Division has doubled its census; substantially improved its profitability; implemented a software solution resulting in 98% paper-free operations; reduced employee turnover to less than 1/3 the national industry average; opened a centralized intake call center; and implemented Jordan University which allows clinicians to earn continuing education credits 24/7/365.
Susan promotes a culture where ordinary individuals perform each day in an extraordinary manner. Her philosophy is clear, “Home care is what we do … compassion and caring is who we are.” Susan embraces technology and innovation, while promoting the value of every individual employee.
Susan is a founding Board Member of the Home Care Association of Louisiana (HCLA) and a former member of the Board of Directors for the Texas Association for Home Care (TAHC), where she also served on various committees. She is a former recipient of TAHC’s “Mary Jo Gabbert Nursing Achievement Award”.
Susan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Corrections from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana, and several years later earned a Nursing Degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She is also is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association and is Certified in Healthcare Compliance.
Gregg Cannady, Vice President and General Counsel
Gregg Cannady is a 19-year veteran of business/corporate law and joined the Jordan Health Services team in 2008. At Jordan Health Services, Gregg provides legal support to all aspects of the organization.
Prior to joining Jordan Health Services, Gregg practiced law for 17 years with Carrington, Coleman, Sloman & Blumenthal, L.L.P. in Dallas. While at Carrington Coleman, and since joining Jordan Health Services, Gregg has served as the principal legal advisor to the company on mergers and acquisitions and on questions of corporate finance, structure, and governance. As General Counsel, in addition to providing legal advice on day-to-day matters, Gregg serves as corporate secretary and is a member of Jordan Health Services’ Compliance Committee.
Before beginning his law practice with Carrington Coleman in 1990, Gregg served as a law clerk to the Honorable Thomas M. Reavley of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. From 1979 to 1989, Gregg worked in the government relations department of Atlantic Richfield Company
Gregg earned his law degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles where he served on the editorial board of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review in 1988 and 1989. Gregg received his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and his Bachelor’s Degree from Rice University.
Kathy Poland, PHR, HR Director
Kathy Poland serves as the Director of Human Resources for Jordan Health Services and brings over 17 years of strategic human resource experience to her position. Kathy joined Jordan Health Services in 2002 and is responsible for leading the human resource department to care for the organization’s largest investment, its people.
As the Director of Human Resources, Kathy has implemented many initiatives that have made a positive effect on the operations of the organization including a retooling of compensation, benefits, safety initiatives and the organization on boarding process. Since implementation of these initiatives, Jordan’s workforce is more engaged resulting in improved financials and continued growth. In 2007, Kathy was responsible for negotiating dramatic enhancements to benefits which resulted in double digit enrollment increases and Jordan’s ability to attract and retain top talent.
Prior to Jordan Health Services, Kathy served as the Regional HR Generalist from 1992-2002 for Tetra Tech EMI. Kathy earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Amberton University. In addition, Kathy is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
Charles Mercer, IT Director
Charles Mercer joined Jordan Health Services in 2007 as the IT Director and brings over 14 years experience to his role. As the IT Director, Charles is responsible for ensuring the IT and clinical systems are integrated to meet the operational, business and clinical needs of the organization.
Since 2007, Jordan Health Services has implemented many initiatives that require employees to utilize technology to care for Jordan’s clients and patients. As a result, the role of the IT department has been critical to develop, train and support these initiatives. Under Charles leadership, the IT department has made significant enhancements to network infrastructure, help desk support and customer service that supports a mobile workforce utilizing the latest technology for the home care industry. Working with Senior Management, Charles has delivered a corporate IT solution that is cost conscious and results driven.
Prior to Jordan, Charles served in a variety of IT positions, including Senior Systems Engineer for LANSystems, Senior Network Engineer for Home Care Concepts of America, and IS/Telecom Manager for Chartwell Home Care.
Chad Wooten, Controller
Chad Wooten serves as the Controller for Jordan Health Services bringing more than 13 years experience to his position. Chad joined the Jordan Health Services team in 2002 and as controller is responsible for the daily operations of the accounting department, including financial reporting, accounts payable, payroll, and billing.
At Jordan, Chad has helped guide the accounting department through rapid organizational growth, systems advancement, multiple acquisitions, and increasingly stringent reporting and auditing standards. During 2007, Chad was instrumental in the implementation of a new accounting and financial reporting system. As a result, managers can easily view financial statements, review/approve expenses, and research variances within a virtually paperless environment.
Prior to joining Jordan Health Services, Chad served in various positions with PageNet Corporation, including inventory, general ledger, internal audit and capital projects. Chad earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University.
